Black people have been isolated and separated since our ancestors were brought here. There has been slavery, Jim Crow, segregation, the construction of project housing complexes and now this. The closing of Chicago public schools is a direct example of blatant racism. Current Chicago Mayor Emanuel Rahm has decided to sell off public schools in favor of charter schools. The thing about charter schools is the teachers don’t belong to a union and are often over worked and under paid, similar to public school teachers, but they are less reluctant to strike.
