Ja Rule talks about his Legacy with Blacktruth.net after Performing with Ashanti

In fact, I wrote an article titled 2Pac’s Death Opened the Door for DMX, JA Rule, and even JAY Z to become Rap Superstars. In that article, I explained how my fondness for 2Pac was really the reason that I had a dislike for Ja Rule and DMX when they came out in 1998. However, there I was in 2022, nodding my head and reciting some of the lyrics of Ja Rule’s songs.

It could be that those songs and music simply remind me of a simpler time in my life. It could be that as you get older, you don’t relate as much to the newer artists. Then, it could be when you see Ashanti on stage with nothing on but some panties and see-through stockings, you pretty much are going to nod your head to anything.

On the other hand, there is something about the showmanship of seasoned artists in comparison to newer artists. With that said, I’m not going to lie, Ja Rule and Ashanti put on a great show. From the start when they had a mini movie as an introduction before, they came on stage.

From the time they came on stage and started to perform their numerous hit songs. Oh, did I mention that Ashanti was on stage looking extra good? (Just checking)

In all seriousness, there is something to be said about making good music that is able to stand the test of time. I caught a glimpse of the crowd, and a lot of people, some of who were younger than me were out there singing those lyrics word for word.

I caught up with Ja Rule backstage and asked him about his longevity and his ability to stay relevant.

My apologies about the darkness of the video, but I hope you guys can catch a glimpse of his face and match it with the audio.
