Issa sent a list of 50 questions for Koskinen over the weekend in advance of Monday’s hearing, Fox News reported. Issa said they were “simple questions” that the Internal Revenue Service commissioner should be able to get answered by his staff.
“I am … looking forward to a fairly long night,” the California Republican congressman told Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom” on Monday. “The reality, though, is we have some serious questions for the commissioner.”
The committee is investigating the IRS targeting of conservative groups seeking nonprofit status. A subpoena was issued for Lerner’s emails, but the IRS earlier this month revealed the documents were lost in a computer crash.
The biggest question Issa said he had for Koskinen was why he didn’t advise Congress about Lerner’s lost emails when he testified before the committee in March.
“You came before us, you said you would tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth under oath. Do you believe you told the whole truth? Of course, the answer is he did not tell the whole truth,” Issa said.
