Rusty Jabbz New York Hip Hop Review>> #15

rusty 43018I couldn’t stay out at Rocksteady 34th Anniversary any longer. Oh how I wish I could. A lot of acts were booked to perform. I left at 9 o’clock everything were still goin’ on. I don’t have any idea when all of this is supposed to come to an end. I understand why, Rocksteady been goin’ strong out here for the past four years now.

I spent nine hours in what the news media always portray as an high crime community. You hear a lot of things being said about Newark, New Jersey. I’ve been here all day in the spirit and good gracious of hip hop and haven’t any drama popped off. I wouldn’t ask for anything better.

Okay this is not what I’ve had planned. I left the park in hopes to be on my way back to New York. Instead I found myself standing at the bus stop waiting for the Newark bus #62 to take me back to Newark Penn station. I’ve been standing here across the street from this park at this bus stop through Rah Digga’s whole set. Now, Neek the Exotic and Large Professor are about to get on. I’m not familiar with the Newark transportation system. All I know I need, Bus # 62 to take me back to Newark Penn station. I stood at this bus stop for an whole hour. I was getting restless. Neek and Large Pro, set was coming to an end. If I would have known I was going to be standing here at this bus stop for so long I would have stayed longer at Lincoln park. I took it upon myself to walk to Newark Penn station. Thank you, God for your assistance and creation of GPS attached to cell phones to help lead me back to the Newark Penn station. Of course, no soon as I start walking towards Newark Penn station. All of sudden bus #62 passes me by, two buses to be exact; Just my luck.rusty 4303

And on that note everybody. I had a great time at another successful, fun, exciting Rocksteady Anniversary extravaganza. Rocksteady Anniversary is what I live for and look forward too every year. It’s that one summer hip hop gathering that unite everyone as a whole into one big happy family. It was a thrill to see all the lil’ jimmies out here in the park. It was also a thrill to see all the big jimmies out here as well. Love seeing the sexy ladies in the park; Nuff Respect to the Hasidic Jews that came through to Rocksteady, with the curlers, the yamakas, the strings and all of that. They came with it moving in the rhythm of hip hop. That’s what hip hop is all about one life, one family, and one-music.

Hip Hop is not just for street people. Hip Hop is not just for black people. Hip Hop is for ALL PEOPLE. We’ve came along way. It’s events like Rocksteady’s 34th Anniversary, events like Tools Of War’ True School NYC Park Jams series and events like the Brooklyn Bodega’s Hip Hop Festival that shows us how far we’ve come in the culture of hip hop.
