Atlanta public school to add security after student shot

The school is located in southwest Atlanta at 3450 Benjamin E Mays Drive.

Latisha Gray sent out a statement Sunday morning to confirm shots were fired as a car entered the Mays High School parking lot shortly after a football game at the Georgia Dome Friday night.

“As students returned to the school from a football game at the Georgia Dome, a car entered the parking lot and shots were fired,” Gray said in the news release.

One student was struck by a bullet and taken to Grady Hospital for treatment. The student is reported to be stable and in good condition, Gray said.

Benjamin Elijah Mays High School in Atlanta will have extra security on Monday after a student was shot in the parking lot over the weekend, an Atlanta Public Schools spokeswoman said Sunday.
