On the other hand, the recent death DJ Timbuck2, the music giant from Chicago had a far deeper impact. For a self proclaim hip hop head like myself; Timbuck2 was a much needed presence in the area. He hosted a Tuesday night hip hop party at local bar called the Beauty Bar and to be honest Chicago needed that. I needed that, and still do need a fix of so called underground hip hop being played on loud speakers. I need it being played in the primetime hours where all the commercial bullshit usually stays in rotation. This is the fix that us hip hop junkies search for. So when we lose someone like Timbuck2, we lose our supplier. We lose one of the people who by chance, become part of the machine; but represent the culture.
For the Chicago hip hop community this loss is just as major as the lost of Frankie Knuckles. Timbuck2 might not have as many fans as Frankie. But those who know his impact; know we lost a giant. The brother was only 34, and lost a battle with Cancer. We honor his life here at Blacktruth.net.
