I liked how he created a mixture of contemporary R&B, Hip-Hop, Funk, and Dance with traditional Gospel music. On the other hand, from the outside looking in, I thought Kirk Franklin was a glorified choir director. I just thought he chanted “holy phrases” while his choir sang the song.
I was wrong and I realized that after seeing him perform this year at the Jazz in the Garden Fest in Miami. Mr. Franklin got on stage sat behind his piano and performed. I mean he did his thing with no choir, just some backup singers and his band.
I didn’t realize he was a musician, singer, and just an all-around great performer. Maybe you knew and probably are thinking while you read this: “Where have you been?”
