In the Bible there is a scripture that condemns this behavior; in Deuteronomy 22:5 it says: “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.” Deuteronomy 22:5 KJV. With that stated I wanted to establish as a man who believes in the word of God that I totally think Young Thug is bogus for his action. However I don’t think those actions are so extreme that he should be blame for the emasculation of Black boys. This is the sentiment of people like Dr. Boyce Watkins and Internet people who see his actions as a endangerment to the Black community. But I in turn think it is a representation of the society we live in. Art imitates life and sadly our society has been acceptive of homosexual behavior. I wonder where is our morality when the first Black President approves transgender access to public restrooms? I heard Charlamagne tha God, who is one of the host on The Breakfast Club say that he believes people are born gay. Keep in mind The Breakfast Club is seen and heard by millions of people around the world. I believe those type of statements and legislations have a far more deeper impact on our society than Young Thug posing with a dress.
The messed up thing in Young Thug’s situation is that I don’t think he has to do it. I think the young man is a creative and talented artist without the shenanigans. I listen to the NMNIJ album and although it is not a classic album, he does have some jams on there. I particularly like the song he has with Wyclef Jean and another joint he has with Gucci Mane. Now I have heard people say things like ‘I’m not going to listen to that gay ass shit.” That’s fine but I don’t think listening to a gay artist makes you gay. I remember when I was young, I listened to Boy George and I listened to George Michael and Wham. More recently I found myself listening to Frank Ocean. Now I don’t watch Tyler Perry movies because i think they are corny but I think you get my point. It may be that because I am artist, I can separate reality from creativity and just appreciate the art. And to tell you the truth, the same people who are shitting on Young Thug now, will be able to do the same thing. Because despite all the hoopla that’s going on; they will still play his songs on the radio. And when they do you will be singing along. And you know what else? The DJ’s are going to spin it in the club too; and when they do , you guys are going to be in the club dancing to it. So in the words of the legendary Pimp C (RIP) “y’all need to get off the boo boo” and stop fronting.
