Producer Mona Scott-Young shows up for the Atlanta Premiere of Mary J Blige’s & Lifetime Movie ‘Be Happy.’

The first two premiered back-to-back that year, while the latter came out in 2025. According to the network, those three films “collectively reached more than 6.1 million total viewers on linear,” as per Nielsen.

The movie stars Tisha Campbell (Val), who is married to Ross, played by Russell Hornsby. Val, a stay-at-home mom, finds herself feeling lonely and bored, and wants to reignite a spark in her marriage. On a spontaneous trip to New Orleans to visit her daughter, Kayla, played by Zing Ashford, Val meets Peter Mosley. That character, played by Mekhi Phifer, is a photographer who charms Val and reawakens her spirit.

Actress Gabourey Sidibe makes her directorial debut with the film.

Mary J. Blige is one of the executive producers, along with Monami Productions, Motion Entertainment, and Swirl Films, for Lifetime. Mona Scott-Young, one of the producers of the film, showed up for the Atlanta Premiere.
