Steve Nash reportedly near deal to become a consultant for the Warriors

As first reported by ESPN’s Marc Stein, Nash is nearing a deal to work with Warriors players several days per month. Presumably, given Nash’s vast experience as a point guard, he’d focus his instruction on the team’s back court, and it’s scary to imagine Steph Curry, already an NBA MVP, and Klay Thompson getting much better.

Of course, there’s always more to learn, and the “Splash Brothers,” among other Warriors, could surely benefit from Nash’s insights into ballhandling and distribution. A nerve condition forced the 41-year-old into retirement in 2014, and he ended his NBA career third all-time in assists, and first all-time in free-throw percentage.

Nash also won two MVP awards and went to eight all-star games, but he never managed to capture a championship. In the Warriors, he’d be joining a team that just climbed that mountaintop, but is clearly looking to get even better.
