The Most Ridiculous Weight Loss Diets!

  1.  The Cookie Diet-  If you have done or you are interested in this diet then you have a serious problem.  How as an adult you allowed someone to convince you that the reason you are not losing weight is because you aren’t eating enough cookies, is beyond me.  This Diet started with Dr. Siegal’s Cookie Diet in 1975. Basically his cookies are meal replacements and they’re not delicious cookies. On his plan you would eat six cookies during the day (about 500 calories) and then have a dinner consisting of 300 calories. That makes this a diet of 800 calories. You will absolutely lose weight on this diet, mainly because of the calorie restriction but it will not improve your health or fitness level at all, and I will most likely call you a Cookie Monster and make fun of you.                                                                                  
  2. The Master Cleanse Diet– My mother does this every year and loses weight (yes she is still overweight).  A single serving of the Master Cleanse drink consists of:
  • 2 tablespoons fresh-squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons grade-B organic maple syrup
  • 1/10 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 10 ounces filtered water

After following this diet for 4-14 days, dieters are urged to slowly ease back into eating solid food, starting with items such as vegetable soup, followed by fruits and vegetables. And it’s easy to guess what happens when a person starts back eating food.  They gain all the weight they lost and usually a few extra pounds because this slows ones metabolism down to about as fast as a three legged turtle named Speedy.

  1. Grapefruit Diet-  On this diet, you will consume so much grapefruit that you will wind up hating yourself. The good news is that you only do this for 12 days in a row, and then take 12 days off, and then back again and so on and so forth. The bad news is that once you go off of this after 12 days and eat normally, you’re going to gain all of the weight back, which is why you go on it again, and the next thing you know you are doing this for the rest of your life and wondering what happened to you and you grow a beard and cry and scream, “WE HAVE TO GO BACK.”                                                                                     
  1. The Blood Type Diet-  My blood type must be always hungry.  This diet is based on the theory that “A Sucker is Born Every Minute”.  A quick search online will show you all of the criticism against this diet or you could not do that and instead just use logic. If you look at their website hoping to find what a Type A should eat differently from a Type O, you will not find that, but you will find that all programs for all blood types include their special vitamins that you can conveniently buy online!

Email me the most ridiculous thing you have ever done to lose weight, lets laugh together.  Keep in mind that weight is calories.  A calorie is a unit of energy.  You have to burn calories through body movement to reduce weight, or restrict calories through eating less to lose weight.  There has and never will be anything that is invented that can change this mathematical equations.  All weight loss surgeries, weight loss pills, sauna suits, stomach belts, etc… will only work if you eat healthier and exercise more.
