Two more posthumous Juice WRLD albums are on the way

By the time of his death, the rapper had been prolific. With two albums under his belt, his career went far beyond that as he’d been a staple of the cultish Soundcloud world for years and had collaborated with plenty of other artists. That meant that when he passed away at only 21 years old, his estate was left with a huge archive of unreleased tracks.

First, his posthumous releases took the form of features and collaborations with artists like Eminem and G Herbo as other acts released the projects they’d worked on together. But quickly, within only a few months of his death, Juice WRLD’s estate put out new tracks and eventually a full album, Legends Never Die.

Fighting Demons followed in 2021 and The Party Never Ends, the album that was originally intended to be the final release, is in the works. However, the artist’s collaborator DJ Scheme seems to be suggesting that more is to come.

DJ Scheme told fans that he’d recently been in touch with Lil Bibby, a founder of the A Grade label that the artist was part of. Scheme said that Lil Bibby gave him an update on new Juice WRLD music, and that two different projects would be hitting shelves soon.

The first would be previously unheard music, as fans expected from The Party Never Ends. But the second will be a greatest “leaks” album to commemorate some of his best old demos and unheard material.

“I know I said this before,” DJ Scheme wrote on social media. “Bibby told me there an album and then another project full of his ‘greatest leaks.’ Jus tryna keep y’all updated.”

However, the process of releasing this posthumous music has not run smoothly. They’ve recently been wrapped up in a legal battle with producer Joshua Jaramillo, who is suing the rapper’s estate for unspecified damages after claiming he never got paid his royalties for a release.

There’s also a question of the ethics of posthumous releasing. So far, the music has been well received as fans and critics alike believe the estate is handling it well and treating it with the care and respect the artist would want. However, the decision to lead with tracks titled things like ‘Already Dead’ has left some fans feeling uncomfortable, wondering whether this level of posthumous output is exploitative.

In response, the rappers estate put out a statement that read, “There was nothing more [he] enjoyed more than delivering new music to his millions of fans around the world.” They continued, “He left behind an astonishingly deep catalogue of music that will ensure his fans will have new songs to listen to for years to come.”
