Leon Taylor, charged with shooting and killing his teenage son. [Chicago Police]

[Herald Economy=Reporter Na Eun-jung] A man in his thirties in Chicago, USA, has been arrested and charged with shooting and killing his teenage son.

According to foreign media on the 21st (local time), the defendant Leon Taylor (33), who lives in the Austin district in the west of Chicago, Illinois, is accused of shooting his son Leon Tay (16) several times at his home around 8:30 pm on the 18th, causing him to die.

The police said, “The father and son’s argument turned into a physical fight,” and “Taylor eventually pulled out a gun and targeted his son Leon Tay’s chest, and Leon Tay died at the scene.” Looking at Taylor’s mug shot, his braided hair attached to his scalp is torn in places.

Three other people were in the house at the time of the incident, but they could not prevent the tragedy.

One of the witnesses told the police officers who responded to the report, “Taylor took the pistol used in the crime and left the house,” and it is known that the police persuaded Taylor to confess over the phone.

Eventually, Taylor confessed to the crime at a local police station around 10 pm on the day of the incident, and the prosecution charged Taylor with first-degree murder on the 20th. The court issued a detention order for Taylor the next day.

Meanwhile, in Chicago, it has been counted that 2,826 people have been shot so far this year, and 585 of them have died. The Chicago Police explained that less than 10% of the shootings were due to domestic disputes.
