Amy Winehouse will be awarded the first placement on London’s Music Walk of Fame on what would have been her 30th birthday. The honor will be bestowed on the tragic singer when the attraction, similar to the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, is launched in September, according to NME magazine.
Organizers announced earlier this month that they have been given the green light to honor the world’s top music legends with sidewalk tributes in the London borough of Camden, where dozens of the U.K.’s biggest acts got their starts. Bands including The Clash, Oasis, Blur, Madness, and The Libertines all have strong links to the area and are expected to be honored at the site, but it is Winehouse — who lived in Camden until her death in 2011 — whose name will be the first to be set in stone.
