Artist Spotlight: ZVerse

imageI go by the name of Z-Verse and I’m from the west side of Chicago. I feel most people remember me because I make music that’s real. Something the people can take home, something that affects people on a different level. I’m not on the ‘turn up’ right now; I’m more into to giving people life musically. The music I put is all about that life, that energy and love. You know coming from one of the worst sides of the city where the struggle is there and we all come up gangbanging and doing what we got to do to survive. To see the world is bigger than that and I’m just trying to bring that message back to the hood.

Black Truth News: How much of that approach towards creating music is based on keeping it real for the audience in comparison to writing what you see and feel?

ZVerse: It’s for them, but I think it’s more so for me too; because it’s hard on the west side of Chicago. Plus you got your homies and you got people in the hood that you got love for and you want to be there for them. You want to be there for that turn up; but I remind myself through the music, how I want to see him in this world. However at the end of the day, I still do it for the fans because I am a passionate person. And I do want to see my people make it; I’m like the guy who see them people go through it in the streets. I feel like even if people disown them, I still love them. They are mine and I want to give them an outlet.
