Ashton Kutcher Testifies In Accused Serial Killer’s Murder Trial

As per reports, Kutcher took the stand in a Los Angeles courthouse at 9:36 AM to testify about his plans to go out with Ellerin for dinner or drinks on February 21, 2001 — the night that she was stabbed to death. As the story goes, the actor last spoke with her at 8:24 PM that night with talk of a tentative dinner for later in the evening. He called her again around 10 PM, but she didn’t answer her phone. When he arrived at her door at 10:45 PM, he was surprised to hear no answer. “I thought it was odd that lights were on and she wasn’t there. I saw what I thought was red wine spilled on the carpet,” he testified. Kutcher went to some events afterward, but did not recall seeing Gargiulo anywhere.

Prosecutors told jurors during opening statements that they believe Gargiulo attacked Ellerin from behind after she exited her shower the night of her scheduled date with Kutcher. Authorities found Ellerin dead in her home outside of her bathroom the next morning with more than 47 stab wounds. Additionally, deputy district attorney Daniel Akemon said he believes that the spilled wine Kutcher said he saw was actually blood. “My fingerprints are on this door and I was freaking out,” he said at the stand. “I told [an officer], ‘Let me tell you what happened.'”

In total, Gargiulo, who is known as the Hollywood Ripper, has been accused of attacking four women with a knife and killing three of them over the last 15 years. He is facing murder charges in both California and Illinois.
