The FBI made arrests overnight accross the nation, according to NBC News.
Auburn associate head coach Chuck Person, Oklahoma State associate head coach Lamont Evans, Arizona Wildcats assistant coach Emanuel “Book” Richardson and Southern California head coach Anthony “Tony” Bland were among those named, according to NBC News.
NBC News reported Person, a former Auburn player and fourth overall pick in the 1986 NBA Draft, is accused of accepting approximately $50,000 from a business manager, who was cooperating with the government.
Adidas director of global sports marketing James Gatto, was also arrested and is accused of paying high school basketball players and sometimes their families to sign with universities Addidas sponsors, NBC News reported.
The complaint identifies $250,000 in payments made by Gatto and other co-defendants.
“Today, we became aware that federal investigators arrested an Adidas employee,” Adidas said in a statement. “We are learning more about the situation. We’re unaware of any misconduct and will fully cooperate with authorities to understand more,” a statement from Adidas said.
The personnel arrested by the FBI include 10 people. Among the 10 are NCAA basketball coaches, managers, financial advisers and representatives from an international sportswear company, according to the release.
