President Biden has named his second Press Secretary, as Karine Jean-Pierre will step into the role later this month and replace Jen Psaki.
Jean-Pierre is Black and openly Gay which is a first for someone occupying that position. Her job consists of speaking for President Biden as well as the U.S. government during press briefings that are viewed worldwide.
Jean-Pierre spoke at a press briefing and said, “This is a historic moment, and it’s not lost on me.” She continued, “I understand how important it is for so many people out there, so many different communities, that I stand on their shoulders and I have been throughout my career.”
In a statement, President Biden said “Karine not only brings the experience, talent, and integrity needed for this difficult job, but she will continue to lead the way in communicating about the work of the Biden-Harris Administration on behalf of the American people.”
He continued: “Jill and I have known and respected Karine for a long time and she will be a strong voice speaking for me and this Administration.” To read more about this story click here.
