Blacktruth.net Interview w/ GreenGo Nick

Blacktruth.net: Where did it started for you?

GreenGo Nick: It started in North Sacramento; the whole mix-tape is telling my story. The whole album ain’t about guns, drugs and bitches. It’s a real story; it’s about the struggle, and how we really living out here. I got some features on there too. From Sacramento to the Bay area; it’s big.

Blacktruth.net: Can you describe how life was growing up in Sacramento?

GreenGo Nick: Had to work for everything; no beating around the bush. If you want something, you got to go get it. The struggle is what makes me, my music, and my grind; it’s everything. That’s what we based everything around; is the struggle. Also the love of the music; that’s what got us through a lot of times.

Blacktruth.net: I’ve been to Oakland and other parts of the Bay; but I’m not that familiar with the vibe here in Sacramento. How is it different from other cities in the Bay?

GreenGo Nick: You know a lot of Sacramento music is Bay music, because we so close together. I mean Sacramento does have its own sound and artists; but we still get a lot of our sound from the Bay area and L.A.

Blacktruth.net: In comparison to the National music scene; do you feel like its opportunity here in Sacramento?

GreenGo Nick: Here in my city Sacramento it is kind of tough because everybody wants to be top dog. Nobody wants to give you your shine. That’s why it’s so hard to make because everybody here wants to compete or hate on you. So in my city it is harder because we don’t have that love for each other. We need to go other places outside of California just to get that recognition.
