It was a memorable moment, to say the least. Fast forward four years later, and I’m back in Atlanta, at the same One Music Fest, and guess who I see backstage? Yep, Lil Duval!
Now, this was a more than welcome sight than usual based on the circumstances surrounding the comedian. In July 2022, the comedian was hit while riding an all-terrain vehicle in the Bahamas.

“Somebody hit me in they car while I was on my 4 wheeler. Now my leg broke and i gotta get flown over to nassau and have surgery,” Duval shared in a caption on Instagram after the accident.
It turns out that Duval didn’t have a broken leg, but a broken hip that required not only surgery but months of rehab.
The following month, he gave an update on his health status by sharing a video of him at his rehabilitation session in a Miami hospital.
“Ask anybody that ever had a broke hip and femur could they do this in a week. and i did this with no PAIN MEDICINE! I’m bout to show y’all how God really work #walkingtestimony.“
With prayer, patience, and hard work, God will do it! Duval had a wheelchair on deck, but he was standing with a cane and looking healthy.
Of course, other people were talking with him and taking pictures, but it didn’t stop him from taking a few moments to talk with your boy about his recovery from the accident. I even had a chance to ask him about his music, check out the interview below.
Following my interview, more and more people started to walk up and ask how he was doing, conducting interviews and taking pictures. There was Big Tigger the former host of BET’S Rap City walking up and doing an interview.
In the midst of Lil Duval talking with Tigger, AJ Calloway walked up and the conversation continued.
The three shared a laugh about a few other things before concluding the encounter.
