Cam Newton thinks media should be docked pay when their NFL picks are wrong, get bonuses when they’re right

“There’s no danger when somebody says it,” Newton said of media picking games. “ … If it was a pay cut or if it was an incentive, if picking teams each and every week you may get a raise, I guarantee it, people would watch what they say then.”

The response came after Newton was asked specifially if he thought it was “comical” that “these people” can’t figure out if the Panthers are good or not.

“They should have an incentive if you make a bold statement if you’re correct, you get an X-amount increase,” Newton continued. “But if you make a bold statement and it goes the other way, you get deducted. Going straight to the Cam Newton Foundation.”

Great idea. Maybe quarterbacks should give back money for interceptions, too — Newton’s thrown 58 in 67 career games — and teams can refund ticket prices when they lose games.

Newton, 26, also told a room full of reporters that he finds media “comical at times.”

“I think (in) your guys’ profession, you can easily take back what you say,” he said.
