A Shandong Runxing Chemical plant in Zibo, Shandong province, caught fire after an explosion about 8:50 p.m. Saturday, the official Xinhua news agency reported. Nine people were injured in the blast, with no fatalities reported, it said, citing local authorities.
The local fire department sent 20 trucks and 150 firefighters to the scene, Xinhua said.
Shandong Runxing has a registered capital of 200 million yuan ($31 million), with 100,000-ton/year HDI and 300,000-ton/year adiponitrile projects under construction in Zibo, according to its website.
