Chris Brown won’t take plea deal on Washington assault case

Back in October of 2013, a fan was trying to take a selfie with Chris Brown and two women outside of a Washington hotel. Brown became enraged at the man and allegedly hit him when he tried to insert himself into the picture. The man pressed charges and Brown was arrested for assault. At the time, Brown was still on probation for an assault charge against singer Rihanna, his former girlfriend. A condition of his probation was that he would not get into any legal trouble. However, because of the incident with the fan, he was in violation. Brown spent the night in a Washington jail cell after his arrest but he also had to go back to California for jail time because he violated his probation.

Because the two legal sides could not reach an agreement, Brown has a scheduled court date of Sept. 8, 2014. Brown is not expected to take the stand in his own defense.
