EU lifts ban on Philippine Airlines flight to Europe

 Meanwhile, Philippine President Benigno  Aquino III praised the action by the EU for lifting the three-year-old ban on  the nation’s flag carrier and expressed hope that it will boost tourism in the  country.
 

Speaking to foreign ambassadors and and  tourism executives in Malacanang Palace Thursday, the president said CAAP has  made significant progress in addressing the safety concerns of the Union.

 

“The Civil Aviation Authority of the  Philippines or CAAP has also been working long nights to allow carriers to offer  direct flights from the Philippines to Europe and to more destinations in the  United States. Today, I am pleased to announce that they have made stunning  progress,” the President said in his speech during the event.

 

The Philippines is currently upgrading  the facilities and technical capabilities of  major international as well as  domestic airports in compliance with the International Civil Aviation  Organization (ICAO) safety standards.
