Gap, the brand we all know from malls, blue jeans, our BNMDA collection, and commercials like this and this, today announced a pretty big shakeup in the ranks. Rebekka Bay, who has been the creative director since September 2012, has been dismissed and no successor has yet been named. In fact, it remains unclear if anybody will take her place. In a statement posted on their website, Gap said that they have “a strong senior design team in place to ensure a seamless transition and said it would evaluate the long-term leadership approach for the global design team.” So who knows, maybe there will be no creative director in the future. What is clear though, is that Gap, like so many retailers out there (Ahem, Abercrombie) is re-evaluating everything from design, to marketing, to in-store experience.
