JAY-Z 13 Albums: Which is the Best and Which is the Worst?

12. Magna Carta Holy Grail

I honestly had to go back and listen to this album. I never heard the whole thing in its entirety. And after I listened to it, I put it last. I changed my mind and put it ahead of Blueprint 2 because both only had three songs I like, but Blueprint 2 is a double album

11. Kingdom Come

This album is not all that bad, but it’s not that good. It was an okay album with a few bright spots. He had a few joints on here that I like. The Prelude was dope and so were Lost One and Do U Wanna Ride. But people expected much more from Jay since this was the first album since coming out of retirement. Not to mention, Lil Wayne took the beat from his lead single “Show Me What You Got” and murdered it.

10. The Dynasty Roc La Familia

I wouldn’t consider this a Jay-Z album, but he does. I think it is more of a compilation album because it is a group of people rapping on each song. Either way, it is not one of my favorite albums. It does have some bangers like “I Just Wanna Love U” and “This Can’t Be Life” on there.

This had a possibility of going ahead of Vol 1., but the 2017 Jigga lyrics, flow, and delivery are not better than the 1997 Jigga.

8. In My Lifetime: Vol. 1

This is one of my least favorite Jay-Z albums. It came out in 1997 and was the aftermath of Pac and Biggie dying. Although it had Where I’m From and Imaginary Player on there; it didn’t seem like Jay was inspired. Put it this way, his album before this was Reasonable Doubt; so this was a big drop-off.

7. American Gangster

In terms of a complete body of work; American Gangster is a great album. It might be better than Vol.3, but it doesn’t provide the big singles we are accustomed to getting from Hov. Nonetheless, this is some good cruising music.
