Earlier this week Lena Waithe went on the Breakfast Club to talk about the sexual misconduct allegations against Jason Mitchell. Waithe who is the creator of the Showtime series ‘The Chi’ said in the interview she was not aware of the allegations against Mitchell until after the first season. She also stated that she did not have the authority to remove Mitchell from the show. Jason was the lead character on ‘The Chi’ and got fired after his co-star Tiffany Boone complained about his behavior. Mitchell was not only fired from ‘The Chi’ but also lost his role in Netflix upcoming movie Desperados.
In the interview with Charlamange tha God, it was apparent was in damage control mode. She did a whole lot of talking but it didn’t sound very convincing. Waithe said that she did talk about his conduct on and off the set. She said she has not talked to Tiffany Boone but did state: “I think Tiffany is a wonderful actress and an extremely brave woman. I wish her nothing but success in the future. I look forward to getting back to work on season three.” Listen to the interview below.
