Man in Lake Shore Drive standoff agrees to extradition to Georgia

Joseph Felton Jr., 44, who is being held without bail, had been hospitalized. He appeared for Monday’s hearing at the George Leighton Criminal Court Building seated in a wheelchair. A black patch covered his left eye.

In the brief hearing, Felton — after becoming a little confused about his limited options — chose not to fight Georgia authorities’ efforts to bring him back to that state for a murder case.

Felton was arrested March 16, hours after his car crashed in Chicago after a 20-mile chase from Harvey. The chase, which ended on Lake Shore Drive, injured four people, although none of the injuries were life-threatening. Felton is charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery and fleeing police in the Cook County matter. He’s wanted in connection with the murder of his wife, Sheray Felton, in Hampton, Ga., about 30 miles from Atlanta.
