New York escapees still in prison area: Terrified residents stock up, hunker in

When a catastrophic storm is on the way, you get supplies in the house and then not move out the door, which is what many families in the surrounding area of the prison have done today. You stay put until you get an “all is clear,” which in this case will happen once the two escapes are in custody. One woman who is in fear at home told “Fox and Friends” live that she is doing all she can to stay safe, “but if they broke out of prison, they certainly can break into my home.” This is the nightmare residents live with today.

The New York prison escapes have been at large going on day seven today. The tracking dogs have picked up the scent of Richard Matt and David Sweat at a gas station not too far from the prison. Officials report that this is the first viable lead they’ve had since the killers escaped, according to CNN News on June 12.

These men are people to fear as they were in jail for brutal and sadistic crimes which include murder, rape, dismemberment of a body and shooting a deputy 15 times and then running the officer over with a vehicle. The Governor of New York is offering $100,000 reward for information leading to their arrest. This reward alone has brought people to the area hunting these men down.

Law enforcement have possibly discovered a make-shift campsite where leaves were clumped together as if someone made a bed along with footprints and food wrappers near those leaves. It also appears the two escapees had gone through a dumpster for food and again, all this has been discovered not too far from the prison, possibly indicating they are still in the area today.
