Since its inception, the culture of Hip Hop has had detractors and faced criticism. Some people thought it would be a fad, while others dismissed it altogether. During the late eighties and early 90s, some people tried to ban the music and pointed to some of the artists’ lyrics as one of the reasons for violence within our communities.
