State Senator Tiara Mack Won’t Apologize for Twerking and I don’t blame her!

However, this was different because the woman in the video was a state senator. The politician was Tiara Mack from Rhode Island. There she was, on a beach, wearing a bikini, on a handstand, and shaking her buns.

At first, I got caught up in the negative responses people were posting online. It made me think well yeah, they are right. This is not a good look for a politician to be twerking all Willy Nilly online. Then I saw a video of Tiara Mack during an interview with TMZ where she said she won’t apologize for her behavior. Then I thought to myself, I agree with her. Screw them, people!

Y’all know the most messed up thing is that most of the criticism came from Black People. We as a community and race are always quick to point out how we think other races will view our behavior

Who cares what other people think?

Why does she have to apologize for being herself?

Why do our people think that an individual is responsible to represent our entire race when they become successful?

We as individuals should have a right to dictate our own narrative, legacy, and image. Even if it opposes the perceived normality associated with our race.

But guess what? Senator Mack twerking on TikTok is normal behavior for a 28-year-old Black woman. It is normal behavior from all races of women on social media.

The fact that she is a politician shouldn’t stop her from being normal.

The one thing that Donald Trump taught us is that the days of your stuffy politician are over. You can be an ignorant reality star, a businessman with no political experience, and become president. So why can’t you be a young Black woman who likes to twerk on social media and be a state senator?
