On Monday, his charges were dropped after he apologized. He then was told he won’t be allowed to return to South Africa.
“[He] has unreservedly apologized to the government of South Africa,” the home affairs department of the country said. “The department is satisfied with the apology [and] will withdraw the charges against him.”
Bey used a “world passport” when trying to leave South Africa, which the country doesn’t accept as a valid document. The passport “is a document issued by the World Service Authority, a non-profit organization set up in the US after the second world war to advocate for world citizenship,” according to the Guardian, who reported the news on Bey.
