Have you ever felt caged – unable to escape. Abruse, neglect, cancer, drug addiction. Life happens! Need help – call on Jesus.
“For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.” —Ecclesiastes 10:12
“The Caged Bird Sings”
Once at home in the trees in the forest, flying high in the sky above us; Caged by man-kind never to fly away again; only to flutter about singing for its supper—singing for help—I can’t help but wonder?
The caged bird sings enchanting sounds pleasing to the ears; sounds void of music, naturally flowing to its own rhythm. There’s no lyrics needed for understanding, singing—I believe, for its freedom—it’s a mystery.
What man or beast would not choose freedom? The caged bird sings what choice is there for the physically imprisoned. Trapped—slowly killing its spirit—similar to family, friends and other people I’ve met throughout the seasons of my existence.
- Caged—in a marriage, abused—misused.
- Caged—in a job, hate it—had to make a living—put food on the table.
- Caged—wrongly convicted, even innocent people go to prison.
- Caged—addicted to drugs, hopelessly captive, living a nightmare.
- Caged—cancer sticks called cigarettes; you know it, still smoke it—stop it.
Caged in your own personal hell; do you feel enslaved like that bird in the cage? Are you a skeleton of your former self, singing out for help? Once energetic, strong, independent—now convicted, addicted still dependent on cigarettes. Mind and body, the souls of man-kind caged in this world of iniquity; ruled by Satan but for a time. If not for God’s amazing grace only he can save the human race.
Are you that caged bird that longs to flee; stuck, miserable unable to free yourself? Believe, have faith, trust God—you tried everything else? You’ve already lost your way—try praying for a change—sing out to Jesus for help.
Lift every voice and sing praises to God Almighty our Lord our Savior our King.
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” —Ephesians 6:12
