12 Roundz Interview with Blacktruth.net

What do you think separates your style from the others?

I think every artist brings something different to the table. Me personally, I pride myself on building a record from the ground up. I listen to the beat and let my own experience influence the music. I try not to listen to other artists. I listen to a lot of my own material and new production. It keeps me fresh and always influenced by my environment. I keep the music a product of me. I like to stay focused on my creative aspect of what I see and what I go through and the things going on around me.

What advice do you have for upcoming rappers?

I’ve been involved with music for a long time and I’ve had my highs and lows; but the best advice I can give to someone coming up is to make sure the people around you are just as hungry as you. When the hunger is shared through everyone on the team it makes you go a little harder and makes you confident in the direction you’re heading in.

“Shut Up” is an angry song. What inspired it?

What inspired me the most about the song was the production – shout out to my bro E Class. When I first heard it I was motivated to make something rough and aggressive. It brought me back to the baggy jeans and unlaced Tim boot era in the ‘90s and for me that’s what I came up on. The song allowed me to express some built-up emotion I had at the time and I wanted to make sure I used this opportunity to pay homage to the era of music I am cut from.

What’s the number one thing you want people to know about 12 Rounz?

I want the people to know that my work ethic is aggressive. I have worked hard at my music since my youth and remained determined to this day. It takes time to make your mark in the music industry but what separates the winners from losers is the love for the actual art and the motivation to keep going despite the obstacles that come.
