Family of Oscar Grant wants to Reopen Case and Charge “Crazy Cop” Involved in Death Case

“Pirone appears to be changing, shifting and shading the facts to put his actions and conduct in a more favorable light, the report said. “Pirone was, in large part, responsible for setting the events in motion that created a chaotic and tense situation on the platform, setting the stage, even if inadvertent, for the shooting of Oscar Grant,” the report concluded.

The report was dated July 31, 2009, and was authored by attorneys Kimberly Colwell and Jayne Williams. The attorneys also pointed to Pirone’s use on the “N-word”, unnecessary use of force,” and “manifest lack of veracity.” The report characterized him as “harsh and unprofessional,” and a “crazy cop.”

Pirone was fired as a BART officer but never persecuted. The officer who pulled the trigger, Johannes Mehserle was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and served 11 months in jail.
