T.I. has six kids and hasn’t hidden the fact that as a parent sometimes you have one or more kids that you have problems with. During an interview with Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay, he spoke about King.
“He really want to be looked at, not just as his own man…he want to go through different challenges and adversities, he want to be tested and graded on his response to whatever his skillset is in that area. Not, ‘Oh he did bad ‘cause he T.I son’ or ‘He did good ‘cause he Tiny son.’ He just really want a clean slate,” he said.
The multitalented artist continued by saying “I would like to shed light on the fact that we all got bad a– kids, okay? Now don’t make it seem like I’m the only one here who got bad a— kids. If you ain’t got no bad — kid you got one and you got lucky. Anybody with three or more, multiples, you got one that you don’t know what the hell you gon’ do with.”
It seems that King is at that age where they used to say that he is smelling his shit. Basically, he is at a moment in his life where he feels like he is an adult and wants his parents to respect and treat him as their equal. Some of us have experienced this in our own personal lives where we start to forget that we have to give our parents the same respect we gave them as children.
Well, when I was growing up, there was a saying in my household that said “If you talk to me like a nigga in the street, you gonna get treated like a nigga in the street.”
Which seemed like the case with T.I and his son. King is 19, but T. I. had to remind him that he is still his dad and he can get his ass beat. Unfortunately, these type of incidents historically and currently is not uncommon in our society. The bad thing about T.I. and his son is that it was caught on camera, the good thing is that it didn’t turn out worse.
Sometimes these types of situations can turn deadly. For instance, there was an incident in Chicago, where a dad had a fight with his 16-year-old son. The physical altercation led to the dad getting a gun shooting his son eight times and killing him.
This is just one example of how bad things can turn out when a child disrespects his parent or when a child feels like he/she is getting disrespected.
