The Good and Bad of Oreofest 2

imageChance the Rapper, Vic Mensa, and King Louie were some of the guests at the first one. While this one featured performances by Lil Durk, Katie Got Bandz, and producer Metro Boomin. The fall weather and atmosphere made the first one seem more like a Lolalapoolza festival; while this was more of a winter festival for the holidays. More precisely it was a concert for the college kid’s home for Christmas break.

That difference made me a little less enthused to be a part of the event; along with the constant stoppage of the show in order to get people off the stage. In all fairness, maybe the increase in expectations also increased the disappointment. The first Oreofest doubled as a birthday celebration for DJ Oreo. The vibe reek togetherness and family, and while this one had some of the same elements, it seemed a little less genuine.

I got some photos and footage but was more than dissatisfied by the lack of accommodations for the media trying to cover the event. As I mentioned, there were a ton of stoppages due to people getting kicked off the stage. Some of those people were members of the media. I do understand the safety precaution needed to protect the artists and staff, but I think it has been more convenient for the press. Maybe that made the grumpy old man grumpier. Despite the occasional confusion it was good to showcase the abundance of talent present in the city of Chicago.
