White admitted that he was not told he was being fired specifically for his criticism of the roll-out, he said,’the timing was hard to ignore.’
According to the New York Times, White requested, but did not receive permission from the Mayor to publish his opposition to Obama’s announcement on Thursday that he would allow all those affected by the unexpected cancellation of insurance plans to renew them for an additional year.
However, White did not wait to hear back and posted his criticism on the city government’s website only 15 minutes after seeking approval and according to the New York Times when confronted by the mayor said that he got the go-ahead from his staff – which apparently was not true.
In an interview given on Saturday, White, who had worked for the city for almost three years said that his attack on Obamacare was not mentioned once as he was fired.
