Chief Keef concert: Stage to be built into truck that can display holograms

chief keef concert 2At the show, donations will be collected for the family of Dillan Harris, 13 months, who was killed Saturday when a car struck his stroller on the sidewalk in the 6300 block of South Ellis Avenue in the Woodlawn neighborhood.

Antoine Watkins, 21, of the 8100 block of South Bennett Avenue, was charged Monday with murder and attempting to elude police in connection with Harris’ death.

Police say Watkins was fleeing the shooting of Melvin Carr, a Chief Keef associate also known as Chicago rapper Capo. Carr, 22, was shot in the 7700 block of South Kingston Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died, according to authorities.

It’s unclear how welcome Friday’s show will be on Chicago’s streets. The rapper has had difficulties with past shows.

A 2014 concert in Cicero was canceled amid security concerns. Chief Keef last year held a Hollywood concert, streamed live at StageIt.com, that attracted a disturbance outside the club where he was performing.
