This was top off by Kweli announcing that he executive produced the album of a new female emcee from the South Side of Chicago. I didn’t catch her name but I do know it was her birthday that night and her new mixtape is called Million Dollar Baby. Here is a clip of her onstage below
In the midst of all that, along with a couple more impromptu performances; Kweli performed all of his hits. He did joints from his Blackstar catalogue, his own songs and he did couple verse from features on other songs. He even stopped the show to give his thoughts on Ferguson, the riots and youth violence in Chicago. You can check out the footage of that below.
Needless to say it was action packed show to go with jam packed audience. I will admit that out of the Blackstar duo; I still prefer Mos Def over Kweli. I haven’t saw Mos perform live yet; so maybe my opinion will change. For now I have to say that I have some more respect for the artistry and showmanship of Talib Kweli.
