Concert Review: Talib Kweli

Most of the people I saw perform last year came on stage and performed their songs. By contrast, Kweli put on a show in Chicago. What’s ill is that when I was talking to a fellow concertgoer name Ryan who saw Kweli perform live in Brooklyn he said that “this wasn’t even the best show I saw from him.”

Keep in mind I got their late; (as usual) so when I got there, the concert was in full swing. Talib was on stage spitting rapid fire rhymes and dancing behind him was Avon Barksdale. Actually it was Wood Harris; the Chicago native who played the fictional character on The Wire.

The night was filled with guest appearances from Chicago artists and celebrities stopping by to pay homage to Kweli. Coldhard of the group Crucial Conflict spit freestyles for the crowd. Fred Hampton Jr. got on the microphone to speak the truth to the people. There was a cameo from music executive and Chicago icon George Daniels.
