Before his Twitter beef with Wiz Khalifa, I knew nothing about his album Swish… I mean Waves. To say this was a big marketing strategy would be understatement. As proof of the shenanigans, he has since apologized to Wiz Khalifa. But this is not after he has confused the acronym KK to stand only for Kim Kardashian, prompted Amber Rose to open dialogue on fingers in booty holes, and resurrected the incarcerated “Wavy King” Max B. This is the Kanye West we have grown to love and hate. The “George Bush don’t like Black people” Kanye West. This is the Kanye West who interrupted Taylor Swift and snapped on Sway during his interview. He married Kim Kardashian, so he knows how to get attention.
The great thing about Big Ye is that he usually gives us some worthwhile material to justify his outbursts. We hope that this new album follow the trend of putting out quality music. Outside of the underwhelming feat of Yeezus; his catalog has been pretty much dope. Lately there have been accusations that Kanye has been swagger jacking from other artists. Chief Keef producer and cousin Young Chop says that Kanye uses and exploits Chicago artist. Travis Scott has been rumored as his ghostwriter and yeah; hopefully you get the point. You can’t stay hot forever and you can live off your track record forever.
I’m not going to go as far as Wiz and say that Ye is stealing Max B “wave” to stay relevant. However I am glad that Wiz mentioned Max B. Obviously 75 years is a long time to stay in prison for anything, but beyond that, I don’t think he got a fair shake in the rap game. He was poppin, but he was just on the brink of stardom when he got locked up. He was a good emcee and a great entertainer. I personally think he helped catapult the success of Worldstarhiphop.com with his diss videos of Jim Jones. But I digress. The point is we won’t be discussing him if it wasn’t for Kanye. So once again a salute goes out to Kanye West. You are a genius.
