Milwaukee Bucks Star Damian Lillard Wants Last Name Back from Estranged Wife

Sandra Rose reports the athlete has put a request in his divorce filing to have Kay’La drop his last name. In the Radar Online-obtained filing, which occurred days after Lillard was traded from the Portland Trailblazers to the Bucks, Lillard cited “irreconcilable difference,” and no hope for reconciliation as reasons for ending his marriage.

“(Respondent) should be restored her former name of Kay’La Hanson,” Lillard stated in court documents.

The divorce filing comes months after Kay’La moved out of the Portland home she occupied with the 33-year-old sports fixture in Dec. 2022. The couple are parents to a 5-year-old son and 2-year-old twins.

In addition to dropping his last name, Lillard wants Kay’La to pay her own attorney’s fees, per their prenuptial agreement. Taking to Twitter/X, Lillard recently displayed a picture of him playing with his children in a hotel room, with the following caption: “Remember why you do what you do.”

Damian Lillard is also making news because of his recent move to Milwaukee Bucks from Portland. Here’s what we reported earlier:

The Portland Trail Blazers are trading seven-time All-Star guard Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks in a three-team trade also involving the Phoenix Suns, the team confirmed on Wednesday.

Lillard wrote on social media that he’s “excited” for his next chapter.

“The casuals won’t be addressed but the trailblazers fans and city of Portland that I love truly will be … and they will be addressed truthfully. Stay tuned. Excited for my next chapter! @Bucks,” Lillard posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Lillard, who moonlights as a rapper off the court and goes by the stage name Dame D.O.L.L.A, also released a single titled “Farewell” after the trade was reported, in which he says goodbye to life in Portland.
