Was Empire Gay Scene Necessary or Part of Hollywood’s Agenda

I have noted that I don’t have a television; therefore I don’t get a chance to watch a lot of programs. However, when I’m visiting family and friends; I do watch some of the shows that are on T.V. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about; so when I visited my cousin last week I made sure to watch Empire. My disgust with television, specifically Black programs has been at an all time high. But I figured this show might give me some hope; and may allow me to at least tolerate watching T.V again. And I must say I was impressed; not only are Taraji and Terrance on the show, but so are Malik Yoba and Derek Luke. It had soap opera drama feel that had me asking my cousin did she DVR the previous episodes.

Then all of sudden two male characters began to kiss and I’m looking like is this necessary? And to be quite honest I didn’t mean that like….yuck; two men are kissing…is this necessary!! No I was thinking more in terms like the scene doesn’t add more flavor to the show. There was no shock factor associated with the scene. In fact I thought it was slicker when the interactions between the two characters allow you to draw your own conclusions.

It has become quite noticeable to me that there is a gay agenda that’s taking place in Hollywood. It is now the standard to have a gay character on every show or in every movie. It is almost similar to the standard of having one black character included with a cast of all white characters. (Aka the Morgan Freeman rule) It seems that the writers and creators of movies and television are force feeding the LGBT lifestyle in the mainstream. The emergence of athletes admitting their sexual preference and the fight to legitimize gay marriage across the world makes it a good time; I guess. In many ways you can say this is a cultural revolution for the LGBT community. Shonda Rhimes, the creator of the hit shows Grey Anatomy and Scandal, recently fired back at critics who question the point of having gay love scenes on television. She said “she didn’t see a gay love scene; she saw two characters in a love scene.”
