Director of “The Marvels” Nia DaCosta comes out for Day Two of the URBANWORLD International Film Festival

That’s why when Nia DaCosta became the director of “The Marvels” it was a big deal. DaCosta achieved a milestone with the release of “The Marvel.” The achievement marks the biggest debut for a Black director in history. With that said, it was a big deal when she showed up for day two of the URBANWORLD International Film Festival in New York.

DaCosta had an intimate talk with Urbanworld’s Head Film Curator, Tambay Obenson which was called “Clips and Conversations.” Along with the talk, there was also a post-screening Q&A with the directors of Maxine’s Baby: The Tyler Perry Story, Gelila Bekele, and Armani Ortiz. Last but not least, it was screenings of To Live and Die and Live, directed by Qasim Basir, and various narrative shorts, including Becoming, directed by Tramaine Raphael Gray.

To say the night was festive would be an understatement and Black Truth News has photos from the night below.
