No. I don’t think the Knicks would have a chance to compete for the title; but it will definitely bolster the chances of the Clippers. It has become apparent that the Clippers are able to compete; but they don’t have that one guy who can close the game out for them. That’s where Melo comes in. On the flip side; the Knicks would benefit from a younger superstar who doesn’t collide with the emergence of Kristaps Porzingis. The trade would be perfect for both teams.
From the players perspective, it would give a fresh start for players who seem to be wearing out their welcome in each respective cities. Blake would still be in major market, where he can still take advantage of being in the spotlight and gaining notoriety. Carmelo would be able to pair up with his friend Chris Paul. Not to mention, he would be closer to Hollywood; which would be great for his actress wife La La Anthony.
