Black Truth News: So you got the new song dropping with Uncle Murda next week?
VNova: Yeah it is called “You Died” and basically that is New York slang for someone playing themselves. It’s not literal but it is hardcore. We got Uncle Murda on there, so you know that’s what you expect.
Black Truth News: Brooklyn has a tradition of producing some great hip hop artists. How has that influenced your music?
VNova: Just the environment in itself has influenced me; but for the other rappers before me, like Big and Jay, you could never duplicate them. Like Biggie’s Ten Crack Commandments, you can’t re-do that. Where I’m at with it, if I do something, I want to do it and perfect it. Just coming up in their shadows on some Brooklyn stuff; I’m trying to bring it back to that. We lost that, that Brooklyn aggression and influence on the game. Like I said, I’m just trying to perfect my craft, and bring that sound back.
