Man Sets Up Facebook Date, Gets Armed Robbers Instead, Prosecutors Say

Matthew Brosmore, 17, and an accomplice stole the man’s wallet, cash and cellphone before driving off in the victim’s 2011 Chevy Malibu, Assistant State’s Attorney Barry Quinn alleged in court Tuesday.

The 27-year-old victim had agreed to pick up a woman he met on Facebook in the 5900 block of West 64th Street about 10:45 p.m. on Jan. 19, prosecutors said.

As the woman walked to the victim’s car, he unlocked his doors, Quinn said. She then stepped aside, and Brosmore hopped in the passenger seat and pulled a knife, Quinn said.

According to an arrest report, Brosmore told the man to “give me what you got.”

The teen’s accomplice, meanwhile, got in the back seat and pointed a gun at the victim’s head, Quinn said. The victim handed over his cellphone, wallet, cash and car keys before getting out of the car.
