Elite Society Interview

BTN:  That consciousness is definitely important considering the environment we live in, especially with all the violence here in Chicago. How much of your music has that message in comparison to other aspects of your lives?

elite pic 2ES (Dom): That’s what we talked about when were on stage. We said Chicago needs a little more than a hug. We need men that are going to stand up; like you and me. Men like Dale, that’s going to stand up for our community and our youth. Teach the youth, get ourselves together first and then teach the youth.

Dale: I got a lot of little nephews, cousins who look up to me and see the things I got going on. They might try to portray that or walk in our light. So we just try to do right, you know, we live right; just trying to make the society elite. Just a new way of thinking, wash our brains out and get this new flavor.

BTN: What gets y’all energy flowing, some people look at conscious artists and their music and may say you guys are too preachy and dull. How do you go by selecting beats and putting out music that makes people nod their heads?

Dom: The first single Mista Policeman, we took it back to the tropical, slash Reggae, feel-good sound. As you said, the beat selection is important, so we said let’s bring a new flavor. So we did a Jamaican, tropical thing to get them back in tune with the land, and then we brought the lyrics to the forefront. One thing we also do is compose a lot of music and use live instrumentation in our music. So like the second single, ‘Life a Good Man’ we show that side, with live instruments. So we give them something a little different, with that bounce.

Dale: Produced by this guy! (Pointing to Dominic)

BTN: Is this music coming on a mixtape?

Dom: Nah. We dropping an EP called “It’s about time”

BTN: How many tracks

ES: About 7 or 8
