Prominent Black L.A. Pastors & Former Gang Leaders Joined Forces On The Apology Tour

The following day on Pentecost Sunday, pastors, community activists, and former gang leaders across Southern California marched in the streets, speaking and spending time with the community to restore the breached union between the church and the community; these leaders agreed to step up and stand up for their communities in every way possible by providing services tailored to the community’s needs, like court support, local school engagement, gang intervention advocacy, healing spaces, community meetings, and resources. All these services are free to the community, and you’re not required to be a local church member. Watch The Apology Tour Walk-out recap video here.

“Change like this doesn’t happen overnight, but we are all dedicated to this movement,” the church said. “Our people are important to us, and they should know it.”

Pastor Shep Crawford pledges to make poignant efforts to create safe spaces and collaborate with other community-based organizations to assist with family, school, and court support as well as different mental, emotional, spiritual, physiological, and social needs.

To further the engagement, LiveFreeCA personnel, volunteers from Experience Christian Ministries (ECM), community stakeholders, and engaged faith leaders will host monthly training sessions starting in June and running throughout the year. The training aims to achieve several objectives, including addressing othering and belonging, promoting seeker sensitivity, and fostering community development and cooperation.
